bio graphy of linkinpark band

Minutes To Midnight (Machine Shop Recordings/Warner Bros. Records) is the third studio release from Linkin Park (Hybrid Theory, 2000; Meteora, 2003), set for release internationally on May 14, with the North American release one day later on May 15. The album, co-produced by the legendary Rick Rubin and band frontman Mike Shinoda, took 14 months to write and record. This intensive process resulted in the recording of over one hundred rough ideas for songs. The album's first single, "What I've Done," debuted at #1 at Alternative and #3 on Active charts.

The album title is a reference to the Doomsday Clock, a clock created in 1947 by scientists from the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists at the University of Chicago. Its purpose is to portray how close (in imaginary "minutes") the world is to nuclear destruction ("midnight"). The clock's hand was originally set to seven Minutes To Midnight (11:53) at the start of the Cold War in 1947, and has been pushed forward or reversed several times since then. It now stands at five Minutes To Midnight (11:55). History lessons aside, Mike Shinoda has commented about the title, saying, "Don't take that at face value. There are layers of meaning; most metaphoric... It's a reference to the Doomsday Clock, the Apocalypse, a metaphor for death and rebirth, but it could also be applied to the music industry, sort of tongue-in-cheek."

Lead vocalist Chester Bennington explains that, while writing about subjects "we wouldn't have touched a few years back," the band set its sights on "surpassing anything that we had done," moving beyond the predictable to craft "an amazing record." Vocalist/MC Shinoda, who also contributes guitar and keyboards, affirms that the band broke comfortable patterns. "Phoenix and Brad experimented with vocal melodies, Chester and I tried playing drums and percussion, Joe ran songs through guitar amps and effects, and Rob wrote songs on piano," says Shinoda. While much of this did not make the final cut, it all "helped us successfully redefine the way we write a song."

The coming weeks will see the launch of LPTV, a series of webisodes that can be viewed on http://www.linkinpark.com/. The series will focus on unseen footage of the history of Linkin Park, building up to an inside look at the studio experience of the new album. Full-length (7-8 minute) LPTV webisodes are also available exclusively by subscription via iTunes.

Sunidhi Chauhan

One of my favourite indian plyback singer
Sunidhi chauhan
Sunidhi Chauhan, whose life is often mentioned as that of a princess locked in the pages of a fairy tale, was born on 14th August 1983. She crooned her first number Ladki Diwani (Shastra) in 1994, went on to win the mega final of Meri Awaaz
Suno in 1996, has sung for over 2500 Hindi and regional language songs till date. She walked into the world of music as a little girl in a talent search TV music show. She showed no nervousness. Rather, only a confidence that took audience by surprise.

Sunidhi began performing when she was five. Her dad, Mr. Dushyant Chauhan, was the first one to spot her immense potential and realize that they had a prodigy on their hands. TV host Tabassum spotted her at a show and reinforced her dad’s belief which made him shift to Mumbai with his entire family to develop her talent. They moved to the city of dreams and into music director Kalyanji 'bhai's Little Wonders troupe, in which she was the lead singer.
Fame really came to her, though, only through the TV show Meri Aawaz Suno. The prize for the winner was to cut an album with HMV. Sunidhi won and recorded Aira Gaira Nathu Khaira with HMV. However, this was promoted as a kid’s album and did not do justice to Sunidhi’s immense talents.
Although her first break in a Hindi film was in the film Shastra, her first breakthrough however was Ram Gopal Verma's Mast. She sang the hit Ruki Ruki Si Zindagi and also three other songs (including Mast) in the film. Sandeep Chowtha's first film as a composer
got an ideal virgin voice in Sunidhi and her song became the most memorable number in the film. She added yet another feather to her cap by bagging the R D Burman award for the most promising newcomer at the Filmfare Awards 2001. Not one to rest on her laurels, she started training in Indian classical music so she could improve her skills. She also loves Western music and Mariah Carey and Michael Jackson top her list of favorites. Her
ambition is to achieve global fame like them.

Biography of Shreya Ghosal- my favourite playback singer

Shreya Ghosal

Shreya Ghoshal was born in a Bengali brahmin family. She grew up in rawatbhata , a small town near Kota, Rajasthan. Her father works in Bhabha Atomic Research Center as a nuclear power plant engineer for the Nuclear Power Corporation of India while her mother is a post-graduate literature student.
From the age of four Ghoshal accompanied her mother on the harmonium. Her parents enrolled her for formal training in Hindustani classical music in Kota with Maheshchandra Sharma[1].
As a child she won the children's special episode of the Sa Re Ga Ma contest on Zee TV. Kalyanji who also judged the competition, convinced her parents to move to Mumbai[2]. She trained with him for 18 months and continued her classical music training with Mukta Bhide in Mumbai[1].
She studied at Atomic Energy Central Schools (AECS) at Kota and Anushaktinagar (Mumbai). For Graduation she had enrolled herself at SIES College in their Arts Stream.

Career
She caught the attention of film director Sanjay Leela Bhansali when she participated in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa for a second time, this time competing against adults. In 2000, He offered her the opportunity to be the voice of Paro, the lead female character of his film Devdas, who was to be portrayed by Aishwarya Rai. Shreya sang five songs in the film. Moviegoers from across the world heard Ghoshal’s singing voice pictured on Aishwarya Rai, and she quickly became one of the top female playback singers in Bollywood, alongside Alka Yagnik, Sunidhi Chauhan, Sadhana Sargam and Kavita Krishnamurthy. Since Devdas, she has gone on to sing for many more actresses under the baton of various music directors, including M.M. Kreem, for whom she sang “Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai”, a sensuous number pictured on Bipasha Basu in Jism. She won many awards (8 Awards in a single year including a National Award)[citation needed]. She also received many accolades for the song 'Mere Dholna' from Bhool Bhulaiya. She has since gone on to sing for various music directors including Ilayaraja A.R. Rahman, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Harris Jayaraj, Anu Malik, Himesh Reshammiya, M.M. Kreem, Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Pritam, Vishal-Shekhar and Mano Murthy. Today Ghoshal is an established industry singer and has recorded in various regional languages, including Bengali, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi and Bhojpuri. She also appeared as a judge in the singing show Amul Star Voice Of India Chhote Ustaad. She has also sung the title song of many Indian Television serials.
Ghosal has completed her college education, and is planning to pursue her MA in literature, a subject which she adores. She enjoys Symphony and instrumental in western music and her favourite group is ABBA. But Indian music is definitely her soul. Her voice has a texture that suits romantic songs and she can project voice very well (a fine example is “Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai ” from Jism). She is also comfortable singing sad songs or peppy songs. Apart from Devdas, she has done songs for Jism, Saaya, Inteha, Out of Control, Khakee, Munnabhai MBBS, Dhoop, Kuchh Kaha Aapne, Armaan, Desh Devi, Tujhe Meri Kasam, LOC Kargil, Aetbaar, Police Force, Lage Raho Munnabhai, Guru, Big B etc. She is the only playback singer to have been nominated in 4 out of the 5 nominations for the best playback singer for her songs in 2008 in IIFA 2008.
